The hotel is located in a residential area, a few minutes' walk to the Acropolis and Plaka old quarter, close to Atticus ancient theatre and the new Acropolis metro station. There are many tavernas, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Ideal location in a residential area within walking distance of the Acropolis and Plaka. The stone building exterior is in keeping with the local residential surroundings, with large glass windows overlooking the main street. Simply and tastefully furnished, the rooms are of a medium size and offer the basic necessities of a comfortable environment. Each room has its own minibar. The hotel lobby is of a medium size, tastefully furnished and decorated, offering comfortable seating arrangements. This hotel does not offer dining facilities, although it has a coffee shop for light snacks and refreshments. 1 kms to city centre, 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 2 minute walk to the nearest metro station (acropolis), 30 kms to the nearest airport (eleftherios venizelos), 4 km to the nearest station (larrissis), 8 km to the nearest beach.

I would recommend this hotel to others who are looking for a budget hotel in a safe, convenient part of Athens. As others have said the rooms are tiny. Our room was the smallest of any hotel we stayed in during our Greece trip- but the price was also the cheapest by about 35-45%. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, as were the pillows. The balcony was large almost as big as the room, I think, and if the weather had been warmer it would have been a nice amenity. Breakfast had a fair selection of food. I felt it was an excellent value for the money, especially after seeing the neighborhood around Omonia where most comparably priced hotels seemed to be located. Our expectations were met. I give 4 stars for the high value/location- it is about a 2.5 star hotel at a 1 star price.

Philippos was clean, quiet and well situated near the Acropolis Metro Station and the Plaka. The rooms were nice, recently decorated and well-furnished. The bathrooms were on the small side but new, nice, & clean. Comfortable beds, nice balconies, satellite TV, a nice lobby, good breakfasts, internet access (for a small fee), and friendly helpful staff all made for a great stay - 4 nights in total. Highly recommend -excellent value!
