The Allegro is a modern hotel, which represents good value for money considering the price of accommodation throughout Switzerland. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the centre of Bern, with the old town accessed via the bridge immediately outside the hotel. The rooms are clean and well-equipped. The hotel has all the facilities that you would expect, including a fantastic rooftop beer garden with views across the old town. The main hotel bar was open late every night with a resident pianist, who wouldn't have been out of place on Eurovision! There is a choice of restaurants, including a Chinese, although we chose to eat out in Bern. The only real disappointment was the continental breakfast, which wasn't particularly good. A plus point was the underground car park, which was included in the room rate. If I was returning to Bern I would definitely consider staying again.
