This splendid hotel offers spectacular views of the Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline from its unique rooftop garden - can't you just imagine sipping your Cosmopolitan? The hotel has a central midtown location on Lexington Avenue not far from Times Square and Grand Central Station. A majority of the rooms have undergone renovation. Currently, only a few rooms are still being updated without any distraction to guests. The hotel is set amidst the gracious 19th-century townhomes, of historic Murray Hill. Each guest is responsible for incurred incidental charges during their stay. Upon arrival, guests will be required to provide a valid credit card or nightly cash deposit to secure any incidental charges. Rare Bar & Grill brings an entirely new concept to casual dining with a high-end approach to one of the most popular foods - the hamburger. Capitalizing on the recent trend toward comfort cuisine and catering to New Yorkers desire for upscale dining, Rare puts a unique spin on this all-American favorite by creating the gourmet burger. The menu features burgers made from unexpected ingredients such as shrimp and crab, barbecued pork, salmon and even vegetables. Unusual toppings include grilled portabello mushrooms, caramelized onions, chili ketchup and Rares special sauce. The space resembles a cozy steakhouse with walls in deep red and khaki, wood-beamed ceiling with recessed lighting, and a beautiful oak bar. The hotel has a traditional European style, gracious lobby. It has an elegant Persian rug, crystal chandeliers, an antique writing desk and leather seating. The one bedroom suites are spacious and offer special comforts and modern conveniences to business and leisure travelers alike. All suites are comfortably furnished with contemporary decor and modern amenities. Rooms are equipped with coffee makers. 13 kms to the airport (la guardia), 28 kms to the airport (jfk).

The Shelburne is a recently refurbished hotel on Lexington Ave. However, beware, the rooms,although comfortable and large by New York standards, are extremely noisy. The Hotel is frequented by mainly business people and you will be disturbed constantly by doors slamming and loud conversation at all times of the day and night. Moreover, the Hotel allows pets and you may have the misfortune to end up, as we did, next door to one which barked non stop to the point where we had to insist on a change of room.
We loved New York ,which is a vibrant and exciting city but we will stay at another Hotel next time

It was very good value for the money, considering how expensive New York hotel accomodations are compared with most other cities. The room was bright, clean, airy and the view fromthe 16th floor deck is great. After staying at the Comfort Inn on W 71st, by comparison your hotel is the Taj Mahal. You exceeded my expectations! I'll be back.

No, I booked two rooms at the same time for the same price the one was a dungeon it was old , dark, and it had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling but the worst of all was waking up and discovering a huge orange stain on the upolstered headboard. The other room was a deluxe luxury suite with a river view and a view of the Chrylser building, two flat screedn tvs, kitchenette with all new stainless steel appliances and granite countertops in the kitchen and bath but most importantly it was brand new and clean. NEVER AGAIN.

3rd time I have stayed here, as our home office is nearby. A well-kept, clean place. Staff very nice. Rooms are big for NY standards. The neighborhood is an attraction-lotsof little resturants that locals frequent. Nice gym also. Rare Bar is loud, a young crowd, with great food.
If you are there on business looking for a reasonable rate, hard to find in NY, I would say go to the Shelburne.
